Perseus Biomics Rapid and comprehensive microbiome analysis

Perseus Biomics developed a novel method for mapping the entire microbiome, the complex community of bacteria in our intestines. The protocol only takes 6,5 hours to obtain a complete microbiome profile at strain-resolution. Traditionally, microbiome analysis is done either via sequencing, which is accurate, but expensive and takes days, or via amplification methods which are targeted and cannot always be used for quantitative analysis. With the achieved speed and accuracy, MetaMAP now combines the best of both worlds.

We translated the advanced technology into a practical and scalable product. The result is MetaMAP, a benchtop device that automatically performs the entire analysis process. Our engineers scaled down an expensive and bulky fluorescence microscope into a compact and cost efficient sample stage allowing for positioning with a nanoscale precision. The optical unit is seamlessly integrated with liquid handled, pick-and place unit and sample preparation units. The result is a unique, affordable device that precisely meets the needs of Perseus Biomics.
