UNEEG Batteryless 2 channel EEG implant for subcutaneous implantation

Active Implantable Medical Device (AIMD) to detect and alert diabetic patients of hypoglycemia

Challenge

Traditional EEGs only capture brief snapshots in clinical settings, often leading to guesswork, trial-and-error medication, and debilitating side effects. Without continuous insights into the brain activity, truly personalized treatment remains out of reach. UNEEG wanted to develop an AIMD to tackle this challenge.

Solution

Together with UNEEG Medical A/S, we co-developed the 24/7 EEG SubQ—a discreet implant that continuously tracks brain activity. It delivers real-time insights, enabling doctors to personalize treatment and improve quality of life. We were responsible for the overall design of the external communication device and designed all the electronics, firmware and PC-based software from feasibility phase up to design and production.
